If the specific heat capacity of the fruit juice is 4000 Jkg-1K-1, find the minimum amount of ice at 0OC that should be added to the juice in order to lower its temperature to 0OC. (Note: Specific latent heat of fusion of ice=3.34×105Jkg-1)

Let m kg of ice should be added, then: Heat gain when ice melts at 0°C = m × 3.34 × 105 J Heat gain when juice drops to 0°C = 0.2 × 4200 × 70 J Threfore, m × 3.34 × 105 = 0.2 × 4200 × 70 m = 0.168 kg Therefore 0.168 kg of ice should be added. 2007-06-24 13:01:12 補充: Sorry for the typo mistake:4200 should be 4000But the 0.168 kg answer is correct.
